The draw for Euro 2024 qualifying was made back in October 2022, and for the first time in a while, England might have to seriously work🃏 for their place at a major tournament.

Their qualifying campaign begins in March 2023, with a pair of tricky fixtures against Italꦑy (in Naples) and Ukraine. England’s summer fixtures are much kinder as they visit Malta and host North Macedonia before their campaign rounds off in the winter with the four reverse fixtures.

It’s poised to be an exciting campaign for the Three Lions in the wake of ဣa positive World Cup. Southgate is still at the helm, and there seems to be a determination in this squad to excel at the very highest level.

This group will be tri🍸cky, but these young lions will relish and rise to t🐎he challenge.

England entered the winter World Cup with rather muted expectations. Their 2022 Nations League campaign was nothing🐬 short of disastrous, but their final fixture before the tournament in Qatar, a 3-3 draw wiꦜth Germany, gave some supporters optimism.

Their campaign began on an innocuous Monday afternoon against a stubborn Iran side who had a little more to t🦹hink about than their World Cup opener given the political situation back home. Still, England blew away Carlos Queiroz’s side as Jude Bellingham starred and Bukayo Saka notch🎃ed a brace in a 6-2 triumph.

The highly anticipated football vs socc🐠er bout arrived on Matchday 2🧔, but the contest with the USA was drab. The Americans stifled Gareth Southgate’s side and were arguably the stronger outfit in a forgettable stalemate.

Nevertheless, England’s points, combined with Iran’s victoꦬry over Wales, meant they had all but progressed into the round of 16. Matchday 3 proved to be a procession against the Welsh as the Three Lions scored three times in the second haꦛlf to eliminate their disappointing neighbours.

With Phil Foden and Marcus Rashford now both joining the party, the excꦗitement was increasing back home as Senegal awaited in the first knockout round. While a physical and athletic o꧑utfit, the AFCON champions were no match for the Euro 2020 finalists as England scored twice at the end of the first half to put the tie beyond any reasonable doubt.

The exceptional 🐭Bellingham was instrumental in Jordan Henderson and Harry Kane’s goals before Foden and Saka combined at the start of the second period to triple England’s lead. Simply put, it was a cakewalk.

Before the tournament started, many foreshadowed England’s route to glory including a tasty quarter-final match-up against the holders France. Didier Deschamps’ side were arguabꦚly the toughest Southgate had𒆙 faced at a major tournament, but this fearless English outfit were more than capable of sending Les Bleus home.

Unfortunately, the contest was a recipe for heartbreak from the get-go as England produce♎d a spirited performance after going behind early. They were the better team for much of the tie and deservedly drew level through a Kane penalty, but the ruthless French re-established their lead out of nothing with 12 minutes remaining.

Theo Hernandez offered England a lifeline by barging into Mason Mount in the penalty area. A spot-k🔥ick was awarded following VAR intervention, and one of the game’s great penalty-takers stepped up with a few minutes remaining to equalise for a second time. Score, and the Three Lions would have all the momentum heading into the closing stages. A World Cup semi-final against Morocco awaited them, but Kane’s effort was wild.

That was England’s last chance.

𓆉Qualifying campaigns have been a procession for England since 2008, ജwith contests against European minnows dominating their schedule. Malta are the lowest-ranked side in England’s Euro 2024 qualifying group and will be expected to finish bottom in the standings, but the rest of England’s opponents all qualified for Euro 2020.

Admittedly, North Macedonia are not quite as strong as they were a couple of years ago, but they won’t🍸 be a walkover on home soil, that’s for sure.

Ukraine are a legitima🐼tely sound side with bags of tale🦋nt across the pitch. Oleksandr Zinchenko, Mykahylo Mudryk, and Ilya Zabarnyi make up an impressive core.

And then there’s Italy. The greatest paradox in world football: European champions and World Cup absentees. Their mission during this qualifying campaign will be to avenge North Macedonia’s stunning play-off victory which prevented them from making the trip out to Qatar this winter. The Azzurri are o💧bviously England’s greatest challenge in this group, and Roberto Mancini will welcome Federico Chiesa back to the fold in 2023 after he 🃏returned from injury following a lengthy absence before the World Cup.

Despite Italy’s knowhow and Ukraine’s talent, we are backing England progressing into Euro 2024 as group winners. The top two will advance to the finals, and the Azzurri should advance with the Three Lions. Never🌟theless, don’t be surprised if either Ukraine or North Macedonia take points off one of the big boys.

Here’s a very early predicted England𓆉 squad for Euro 2024 in Germꦺany:

GOALKEEPERS

Jordan Pickford (Everton), Aaron Ramsdale (Arsenal), Nick Popꦏe (Newcastle)

DEFENDERS

Kyle Walker (Manchester City), John Stones (Manchester City), Harry Maguire (🅷Manchester United), Luke Shaw (Manchester United), Fikayo Tomori (AC Milan), Kieran Tripper (Newcastle), Ben White (Arsenal), Conor Coady (Everton), Reece James (Chel𒊎sea)

MIDFIELDERS

Declan Rice (West Ham), Jacob Ramsey (Aston Villa),ꦉ Kalvin Phꦏillips (Manchester City), Mason Mount (Chelsea), Jude Bellingham (Borussia Dortmund), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool)

FORWARDS

Harry Kane (Tottenham), Tammy Abraham (AS Roma),ᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚ James Maddison (Leicester), Raheem Sterling (Manchester City), Bukayo Saka (Arsenal), Marcus Rashford (Manchester United), Jack Grealish (Manchester City), Phil Foden (Manchester City)

England’s relationship with the European Championship took some time to blo🔜ssom. They competed in just one of the first five iterations ofౠ the competition, finishing third in 1968 with Sir Alf Ramsey at the helm. The Three Lions failed to qualify in 1960, 1964, 1972, 1976, and 1984.

They became regulars in the competition from Euro ’88, but the tournament in Germany was a miserable one for Bobby Robson’s side. The behaviour of English supporters dominated 𝐆the headlines as the Three Lions exited the competition in the group stage, having lost all three of their games.

They ღdidn’t fare much better four years later despite their heroic effort at Italia ’90. England were once again dumped out in the first round following another winless group stage.

The opportunity t❀o host the tournament in 1996 triggered an upsurge in optimism and momentum up and down the country, to which Terry Venables’ talented squad responded. An entire nation roared as England finally enjoyed success at the Euros, this time on home soil. Tꦓhey thumped the Netherlands 4-1 to progress into the knockouts, where they beat Spain on penalties before facing Germany for a chance to play in the final against the Czech Republic.

Alan Shearer thrust a sold out Wembley Stadium into a state of delirium when he scored the opener just three minu🍎tes in, but Stefan Kuntz quickly equalised. A tight contest ensued with England coming within a longer Paul Gascoigne stud of victory. To penalties the two sides went and, once again, the Germans were perfect. The opening 11 spot kicks were successful before Gareth Southgate’s tame effort was denied by Andreas Kopke.

An Oliver Bierhoff golden goal later and Germany were Euro🥀pean champions for the third time.

For England, aꦺ Golden Generation of🧸 talent awaited. Surely, this was just the beginning of a prosperous new era?

Well…

The Three Lions were plagued by failure in the tournaments that followed. After an early exit at Euro 2000, expectations were sky-high for tඣheir campaign in Portugal at Euro 2004. Wayne Rooney had announced himself to the world, but they exite🧸d the competition in the quarter-finals following more shootout heartbreak.

Steve McLaren’s infamous umbrella antics will always be remembered in the build-up to Euro 2008 as England failed to qualify for the tournament after being beaten by Croatia at Wembley. They returned in 2012, but Roy Hodgꦓson’s side were beaten by Italy on penalties in the last eight. The Three Lions were light years off Europe’s best, and this came to a head in 2016 as they suffered one of their all-time great humiliations at the hands of Iceland, who beat them 2-1 in the round of 16.

Euro 2016 was the lowest of the low for England. Hodgson left his post, and following Sam Allardyce’s brief stint, a beacon of hope arrived. Southgate was back, and he’s since led the Three Lions to two of their most impressive runs at major tournaments. Hope was reignited at the 2018🐟 World Cup, but it was at Euro 2020 (delayed until 2021 due to the pandemic) 🍸when a nation truly believed football was coming home.

Southgate’s lions purred on their way to the final as Germany were beaten in the round of 16: an historic triumph. Only Italy stood between them and glory, but we all know how an English fairtyale ends, right? With a he💖artbreaking loss on penalties.

That’s some question. Euro 2024 is still many months away at the time of writing, so plenty can change between now and then. However, we can expect Gareth Southgate’s side to look pretty simiꦐlar in Germany to how they did in Qatar. It’s hard to envisage too many changes to the squad.

England are certainly blessed with the talent to go all the way, but they need to get over the hump with this group of players. The manner of their 2022 World Cup exit will undoubtedly motivate the Th෴ree Lions, but the competition at Euro 2024 will be incredibly tough. France’s ruthlessness is simply frightening, while the hosts are the current bookie’s favourite despite a disappointing World Cup. Spain and Italy remain European behemoths, while an incredibly gifted Portuguese squad will be buoyed by a new manager following Fernando Santos’ departure.

Nev🍷ertheless, Euro 2024 might be when this England squad peaks. They have a great shot of going all the way, but we could say the 🔥same thing about several sides.

In order to stand out, bookies will be offering a range of rewards for all of your𓄧 wagering needs. Here are the three types of offers you should keep your eyes peeled for.

Deposit Bonuses

UK sportsbooks offer deposit bonusesಌ all year round. However, during the Euros, you can expect some of the best deals.

This type of offer gives you a percentage boost on your first deposit. For example, if you paid in £50 with a 100% boost, £100 in total would be credited to your account — albeit with some wagering requirements attached before🃏 you can withdraw any 🍃winnings.

A depoಞsit bonus can be a great way to get ahead at the beginning of the tournament, offering you more England betting opportunities without having to shell out more of your own funds.

Free Bets

Free bets are highly sought-after by punters, and there will be plenty of these offers floating around during the 🍌Euros.

For events such as these during which competition for punters is at its highest, many site🐈s which allow betting on England will offer their players free bets on a specific fixture.

Special Combi-Bets

The final type of betting promotion you can expect offers special, standalone combi-bets. These wi🦹ll, in turn, consist of several different smaller bets combined into one, usually with enhanced odds.

Again, we will no doubt see a few of these crop up for any of England's games. Examples could include Harry Kane to score and England to win at 6/1. You get the idea.

Tip: We recommend using KickForm to get the best predictions and odds.

Exciting times lie ahead for England with Euro 2024 already just 18 months away. Qualifying in 2023 will be no easy task, however. For punters, betting opportunities will arise pretty regular♏ly when it ✱comes to the Three Lions and the most optimistic of supporters may well even take on an outright punt well before the tournament gets underway. Is this finally the time for football to come home?

England have never won the Euros, but they memorably reached the final in 202🌊1.

The Three Lions first entered the Euro♐s in 1968, where they finished tꦜhird.

Germany will be hosting the tournament, incident♓ally marking the first ti🐟me doing so as a reunified, solo nation.

Berlin’s Olympiastadion will play host to the Euro 2024 final﷽ on Sunday 14 July.

England’s first game in the qualifying stage will be played on 23 March 2023 a💧🌊gainst Italy in Naples.

Big sports fan specialising in football. Experienced the lows of Vlad Chiriches and Tim Sherwood as a Spurs fan along with🥂 the more recent ‘success’ under Pochettino. My foll♛owing of the New England Patriots since 2012 somewhat makes up for the lack of silverware produced by Spurs in my lifetime.
